• Matter : Anything that has a mass and takes up space
• Mass : A property of matter that causes it to have weight, mass measures the resistance of an object to a change in its state of motion

Liquid

Gas

There are 2 kinds of matter:

I. MIXTURE

2. Physically combined
3. More than 1 kind of substance
- Homogeneous

+ Appears to have only one component

* Solution

*Colloid

- Heterogeneous

+ Non uniform

+ Have more than 1 component

* Suspension

* Mechanical mixture

II. Pure substances

1. 1 set of property

2. 1 kind of particle

- Element

+ Simplest form of metal

+ Can't be decomposed

+ Made up of atoms :

* Metals

* Metalloids

* Non-metals

- Compound

+ Made up of element

+ Smallest particle is called a molecule

* Covalent ( between 2 non metal )

* Ionic ( between metal and non metal )
